1.Introduction about the Department

The Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA), Tawang District, is the Nodal Agency responsible for promoting, developing, and implementing renewable energy programmes and energy-efficient initiatives across the district. The department functions under the Government of Arunachal Pradesh with a mandate to enhance sustainable energy access, particularly in remote and rural areas where conventional power supply remains limited or challenging.

APEDA focuses on planning, executing, and monitoring various renewable energy projects such as solar power plant, solar street lighting, solar home lighting systems, high-mast lighting, and other decentralized energy solutions. The department also works closely with village authorities, government bodies, and partner agencies to expand clean energy infrastructure, improve public lighting, and support rural development through reliable energy access.

Through its ongoing efforts, APEDA aims to strengthen the district’s socio-economic development by promoting clean, affordable, and environment-friendly energy solutions, helping communities achieve improved living conditions and enhanced public services.

All renewable energy projects with an estimated cost of ₹50 lakh or above are carried out through   the tendering       process, strictly in accordance with applicable Government rules and guidelines.

a. Implementation of renewable energy-based lighting systems, including solar street lights, Solar Home Lighting, and           Solar High-Mast system

b. Planning and execution of renewable energy projects in villages and remote areas.

c. Technical support for solar and other clean energy installations.

d. Monitoring, supervision, and reporting of state-sponsored renewable energy schemes.

e. Assistance to beneficiaries and local bodies in adopting and maintaining renewable energy solutions.
