Introduction about the department
Department of Hydro Power Development established in Government of Arunachal Pradesh during 2004. The department deals with construction, operation and maintenance of Micro, Mini & Small Hydro Electric Power Stations. Also the department is deal with Monitoring and supervision in construction and operation of Mega Hydro Electric projects under taken by power developers in Arunachal Pradesh.
This division, Tawang Hydro Power Division-II established in February 2009. The Office establishment situated at Lhou Circle. The Administrative setup of this division is headed by Executive Engineer with Two Nos. Assistant Engineer of civil & Electro Mechanical wing. Civil Sub-division is situated at Tawang with two numbers of Junior Engineer (C ) and Electro Mechanical Sub-Division situated at Lhou with one Junior Engineer (EM).The division has 25 regular category staffs, 99 work charged staffs and 189 casual staffs. The Jurisdiction of this division is Tawang Constituency with all civil and electromechanical works of Hydro Electric power stations.
The Division deals with operation & maintenance of Civil components of 6 Nos Micro and Small hydro stations and O & M of 17 Nos. Micro Mini & Small Hydel stations with an installed capacity of 18.510 MW.

Achievement, ongoing & completed projects
Achievement :- The division had 17 Nos. of Micro, Mini & Small commissioned hydel station which had generated 439.82 MU and Revenue billed Rs.134.60 crores at an unit cost of Rs. 3.06/- unit.
Ongoing project :- C/o Shyaro SHEP. The project is situated at Lhou Circle with proposed Installed capacity of 3 MW with 2 units of 1.5 MW. The project is under construction and verge of completion and expected to be completed within March’25.
Completed project :- Re-rating of Kitpi Ph-I (2X 750 KW). The Re-rating work of Kitpi ph-I was completed and commissioned and starts commercial operation from 26/11/2025.
