Sela Pass
Sela Pass is a high-altitude mountain pass located in the Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. It is situated at an altitude of approximately 13,700 feet (4,200 meters) above sea level and is the main route that connects Tawang to the rest of India. The pass is known for its scenic beauty and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, glacial lakes, and picturesque valleys.
Jaswant Garh
Jaswant Garh is a historic site located near the town of Tawang in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. The site is named after Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, a soldier of the Indian Army who fought against the invading Chinese troops in the 1962 China-Indian War. Jaswant Garh is a tribute to his bravery and sacrifice.
Jang Water Fall
Also known as Bong Bong Falls, Nuranang Falls drops down from an altitude of 100 meters. It originates from northern slopes of the famous Sela Pass, furth Nuranang River forms the waterfalls and then it plunges into Tawang River. It is located hardly 2 kilometers from Jang nearby the road that connects Tawang and Bomdila. And that’s perhaps the reason why it is known as Jang waterfalls. There’s another myth associated with the name of the waterfall. Nuranang river and Nuranang falls are named after a local Monpa girl named Nura who helped the Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, a Maha Vir Chakra awardee soldier during the 1962 Sino-Indian War but was later captured by Chinese forces. Not only it’s a spectacular attraction of Arunachal Pradesh, but also it is used to generate electricity for the local use. There is a small hydel plant located near the base that generates electricity.
Tawang Buddhist Monastery
Tawang is a beautiful land with scenic landscapes, panoramic mountains, clam villages, quiet lakes and magical gompas. Amongst them all, one monastery that steals the limelight isthe Tawang Monastery. This monastery is the most popular monastery in Arunachal Pradesh. Tawang Monastery is also known as the Gaden Namgyal Lhatse and it sits on the prick of a hill, about 10,000 feet above. The famous Tawang Monastery is a popular tourist attraction and it was founded by Merak Lama Lodre Gyamtso in the year 1860-61 AD and it offers an impressive and picturesque view of the Tawang – Chu valley. Undoubtedly, the monastery appears to look like a fort from afar, shimmering with royalty similar to a mini kingdom. Tawang Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh is ranked as the second largest monastery in the world after Borobudur in Indonesia
Tawang War Memorial
Tawang War Memorial is a historic site located in Tawang. The memorial was built in memory of the Indian soldiers who died in the 1962 Sino-Indian War, which was fought between India and China over border disputes.
Chakzam Bridge
This ancient iron bridge was built in the 15th century and is one of the last surviving Tibetan bridges in the area. It allows you to cross over the Tawang Chu River.
Pankang Teng Tso Lake
P.T Tso Lake, also known as Pankang Teng Tso Lake & Madhuri Lake, is a picturesque high-altitude lake located in the Tawang district. The lake is situated at an altitude of 4,640 meters (15,223 feet) above sea level and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and lush green forests.
